NJ Lottery Office Open by Appointment Only
TRENTON (September 17, 2020) – The New Jersey Lottery will begin allowing the public to file winning claims in-person at Lottery Headquarters in Lawrence by appointment only starting on Thursday, September 17, 2020.
The service, which had been suspended since March 19, 2020 due to COVID-19, will resume by appointment only.
Eligible claimants should call the NJ Lottery at 1-800-222-0996 to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Players without appointments will not be accepted at this time. Claimants are required to wear a mask or face covering when visiting the office.
Lottery tickets typically expire one year after the date of the drawing or the announced closing of a Scratch-Off game. After that, the ticket can no longer be claimed. Impacted tickets include draw games that were purchased between March 19, 2019 and September 30, 2019, or Scratch-Offs games where the game was ended between March 19, 2019 and September 30, 2019. The expiration date for all claims set to expire between March 19, 2020 and September 30, 2020 has been extended.
The Lottery does not immediately pay players who come to the Lottery offices to validate winning tickets. If a player files a claim by mail or at Lottery headquarters, players should expect to receive payment by check in four to six weeks.
In addition to mailing, players can now personally deliver claims to Lottery Headquarters using the new drop box located next to the lobby at our Headquarters in Lawrence. The drop box is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Claims less than $599.50 can still be immediately redeemed at any retailer. Claims of $600 or more can still be mailed in and will be processed in the regular course of business. Winners should make copies of their signed ticket and claim form before placing it in the mail. All properly validated mailed claims will be paid.

Retailers who are hand-delivering payments to the Lottery should still make an appointment with a Lottery representative before traveling to Lottery headquarters.
